Take Your Pick

Today I didn’t have a charter, so we put our boots on and went commercial kingfishing for our first trip of the season.

The boats that were sportfishing had excellent fishing, and you had your choice of things to do. I think every boat that fished in the blue water had a limit of dolphin. There were a couple of wahoos caught, limits of king mackerel, trolling or live baiting, one boat caught two sailfish, and there were some yellowfins caught up to the east. My second mate bailed on me, so it was up to Justin and myself to put together a catch of fish to sell, and we managed to tally out at just under 1700 pounds for the day. Not a bad shakedown trip. Fishing is hot!
