Today was a little on the breezy side, and the fishing wasn’t quite as good as I would have liked, but my guys enjoyed the best thing about a fishing trip…just being together.
This trip was a retirement gift for my new friend George. He said "keep the watch, I want to go fishing!" Anyway, we caught a dolphin and a wahoo pretty early, but then it was a pretty long wait. We did get hammered pretty hard by the gaffer dolphin one time, but as luck would have it, they all got away. We did catch another one out of two dolphin before we decided to get "jiggy" with it. The amberjacks bit good, and we were able to bend some poles for a little while. We had another wahoo bite in the afternoon, but he bit off our crank on leader. The trolling was a little slow for most of the guys, although one or two boats caught a handful of fish around a float or two, and there was a blue marlin caught as well.
