Mixing It Up

It rained for the first few hours of the day, but once it cleared up, the day was beautiful! The fishing was just as good.

My guys had enough dolphin yesterday, and wanted to start the day off with some vertical jigging. It was more fun than they expected, and we hung around long enough to let everybody catch a few. We jogged offshore to give the deep another scouring, with instructions to try and avoid dolphin. We were letting the second line out when the dolphin hit us! It sounded like everybody who wanted dolphin got all they wanted. Anyway, we spent most of the day dragging our marlin spread, but only had one "mystery bite". There weren’t as many billfish seen today as yesterday. We all got a little bored, and since the sun had peeked out, decided that we had a shot at sight casting to a cobia along the beach. We saw three little pods of fish once we got inshore, hooked two, and landed one. He weighed in at 49 pounds, and earned Bob a citation. Variety is the spice of life! Thanks again Dave for two great days.
