7/13 Hatteras Offshore Fishing Report

Fishing was pretty good today, more bills and bailers!

We trolled out over the hundred first thing this morning, and after trudging around in the worst scattered grass EVER, we found a float with a handful of nice dolphin around it. We caught a dozen, including three gaffers. Nena said that one of her dreams was to catch a billfish, so I steamed back inshore a couple of miles where there had already been some white marlin action. We skipped baits all day without much activity in our spread, and finally we raised a sailfish to a teaser. The switch went fine, and we had him on for two jumps plus a few minutes, before he pulled the hook. Bummer. We’ll get him next time! Hope to see you guys in the spring for some bluefin!
