8/3 Hatteras Offshore Fishing Report

My ol’ buddy Dave brought some family down for a great day offshore!

The water was so pretty 10 miles off the beach that we dropped a couple of high speed lures over in hopes of a wahoo strike. We didn’t go far before hooking a king mackerel on the way offshore. Once we got set out with the regular trolling gear, we began rummaging around in the scattered grass looking for a dolphin. We found a couple different schools throughout the morning and managed to finish off our limit. In between schools of dolphin we had a 30 pound wahoo attack a longrigger for Dave to fight to the boat. That was our only wahoo action, and no billfish today either, although there were a couple sails and a couple whites caught. Thanks Dave for bringing Pete down, you need to do it more often!
