8/14 Hatteras Offshore Fishing Report

We had a marina make-up charter today, and it was a great group!

The weather was perfect, and even though fishing was a little scrappy overall, we managed to put together a pretty nice catch of fish. I was hoping that we would find some dolphin, so everybody would get some action…and we did. Most of what we caught came out of one school, but we did find a couple other handfuls and wound up with 40 bailers. The wahoo fishing sounded pretty good back inshore, so I was hopeful that we would have some trolling action as well. We wound up catching one out of four wahoo bites, thanks to Linda and a lot of encouragement from the rest of the group. We also landed three blackfin tunas and missed a couple others. The highlight came near the end of the day when Marlin caught a sailfish. Yes, you heard right. Marlin caught a sailfish. It was one out of a double and he did a great job winding him to the boat. Thanks everybody, and I hope to see you all again!
