10/19 Hatteras Offshore Fishing Report

It was actually a pretty nice day today, but the leftover ground swell from the south made the ride offshore slow. Once we got to the fishing grounds, we had some pretty good bites but were plagued with rubber hooks.

There were only three boats out, and we all split up in different directions, so we covered as much as possible. One boat fished straight offshore and did find some dolphin way out in the deep. We fished the break and concentrated on wahoos. It wasn’t a bad plan, and we did hook five during the morning, but only landed one. We caught four decent size blackfins and a couple of bailer dolphin as well. Some of my crew felt a little under the weather and requested an early dismissal so we quit shortly after lunchtime. Thanks again Dave!
