This morning I counted 27 boats leaving Hatteras Inlet at the same time, and immediately felt anxiety. I decided to head south, avoid the crowd and take what I could get.
We had an occasional dolphin bite through the early morning, landed some and lost a bunch. At first it seemed like it was gonna be one of those days where we were plagued with rubber hooks. I struck gold further out in the deep and found a "mega school" of gaffers and big bailers. It was a healing. After that we skipped baits for a marlin for a while, then we shallowed up for a wahoo but had no luck with either. Thanks Jud, it was a great day and I can’t wait to do it again!
