7/8 Hatteras Offshore Fishing Report

The weather was perfect again today, and the fishing was better overall than it has been.

We started out scrapping a dolphin along, and I thought that I had made the best choice to stay inside of 35 fathoms, by the sounds of things. We did have a rare amberjack encounter that got pretty exciting when a jumbo barracuda showed up for lunch. Justin took what was left of the cuda’s meal and put it on a hook. He came back for seconds, and that turned out to be a mistake for him. Later in the afternoon, the dolphin started biting for most of the guys in the deep. I worked out there and we did manage to find one nice school, but it just didn’t work out like we hoped. We still wound up with a catch, and some variety! Thanks Scott!
