I had a "weather talk" with my group this morning, and everybody was willing to test the southwest winds.
The ride out was pretty miserable, but once we started fishing, the seas were rough but manageable. Meat fishing was at an all time low today, and a lot of boats never caught a fish. We had a few bites, and avoided the skunk with a wahoo and a gaffer dolphin. We lost another wahoo and a couple of other dolphin escaped as well. The marlin fishing, however, was pretty good. There were several blue marlin and white marlin released in day #1 of the Hatteras Grand Slam Tournament. We jumped off a sailfish and raised a white marlin to a lure, but he wouldn’t go for the switch. Even though it was slow, my group had a great time, and I look forward to seeing them back! Thanks guys!
