Today was slick calm, and there were a lot of boats offshore.
Most of the fleet started fishing on a current edge/grass line. I tried it for about 15 minutes before trolling off in the deep. It was great to get away from the crowd and even greater to find big patches of grass out over 100 fathoms. I was sure that it would only be a matter of time till we got jumped by the gaffers or raised a blue marlin. Well, it was slow going. We did catch a couple of gaffers out there but it was sounding like the guys that stayed inshore were scrapping out a catch. Tail tucked, I worked back inshore and we managed to land five more nice dolphin in the afternoon plus had a brief sailfish encounter. Thanks for a great day Mike!
